ASWIFTT JR Member Kamille Padgitt To Read Her Poetic Piece At Barnes & Noble

Writer’s Guild Member, Kamille Padgitt, will read her poetic piece “Quilted Hope” at “Barnes & Noble” on January 25, 2017 at 6:00 pm at the Lincoln Park Store located at 7700 West Northwest Highway, Suite 300, Dallas, Texas 75225. Barnes & Noble has partnered with Henry W. Longfellow Academy to host a Bookfair to raise funds for the school. Kamille has also written several poetic pieces in the past. Her poem “Don’t Worry Be Happy!” was placed in the 2016 “Express Yourself Youth Poetry Competition Anthology.” The event was sponsored by the Dallas Public Library and the Dallas Foundation. Kamille was among 60 finalists who read their poem at the J. Erik Johsson Central Library luncheon last year.

Kamille Padgitt is also a Dallas ISD Scholar. She is listed among other Dallas ISDKamille Padgitt1A Scholars for her Exemplary Academic Achievements.  Kamille is an 8th grader who scored in the 95th percentile on her STAAR Reading/Math standardized test last year.  The Dallas ISD Scholars Program recognizes students in the 7th through 11th grade who have demonstrated academic excellence and college readiness potential.

Kamille is a published author who wrote “The Jersey Devil Is Not REAL!” in October 2013. As a member of ASWIFTT JR. Writer’s Guild, she is receiving mentoring and support to develop her chosen literary craft. She wants to publish more of her fiction stories in the future. Her desire is to become a scientist, teacher and author like her mother. She enjoys singing, reading, science, painting, ballet, drawing and riding her bicycle.

ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Tried And Tested But Continues 6 Years Strong!

AWG LOGO PenThe ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Organization, its founders and members will be celebrating its 6 year anniversary June 30. Although, the ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Organization has suffered attacks from the enemy collectively and individually over the years, we as an organization have stood firm in our beliefs and faith in God. We have been tried in the areas of health, finances, reputation, integrity, family, friends, business, personal issues, etc and the list goes on and on. We refuse to give up, lay Brenda Johnson Padgitt38 (2)down, or surrender to the tactics and antics of the enemy because we are not ignorant of his devices. We trust in and look to God for everything. We are declaring like Job, “But He knows the way I take; When He has tried me, I shall come forth as gold. My foot has held fast to His path; I have kept His way and not turned aside. I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food. (Job 23:10-12)

They have been tried and tested and can testify of the goodness of God first hand. The ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Organization also has other members who can testify of God’s power, mercy, healing, and promises.  As an organization, we are Ambassadors Sent With Information For This Time. We are ASWIFTT! In carrying out our mission, it is our desire to bring truth, healing, unity, reconciliation, and to set captives free. In six years, God has used our ASWIFTT members to minister, help, and educate the masses through the Literary, Visual, & Performing Arts.

Kamille Padgitt Wins 1st Place In The Beginner Debate Team Category

ASWIFTTFounder2ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild founders want to congratulate ASWIFTT JR. Member, Kamille Padgitt for winning 1st place in the Beginner Debate Team Category on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Ellis Davis Field House in Dallas, Texas. Kamille placed 1st out of 20 students from various Dallas ISD schools. The Dallas Urban Debate Alliance sponsors Dallas ISD debate tournaments. This award is one of many that Ms. Padgitt has received this school year. As a member of her school’s beginner debate team, Kamille is learning invaluable 21st century skills that will prepare her for college. These skills include critical thinking to problem solve, organization, team work, research, writing, oral presentation and knowing how to defend her argument. Kamille is also active in her school’s choir and drama team.

ASWIFTT JR. Member Kamille Padgitt Was Honored For Her Poetic Piece

Kamille Padgitt1AASWIFTT JR. Writer’s Guild member Kamille Padgitt did us proud at the 20th Annual Youth Poetry Competition. She was one of the finalists for her poetic spin “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” Kamille’s poem was published with other Dallas ISD poetry finalists in the 20th Annual Youth Poetry Competition Finalists’ Anthology. The event took place on April 23, 2016 at the J. Erik Johnson Central Library located at 1515 Young St., Dallas, Texas 75201. She did an excellent job of representing ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild and her school. Kamille eloquently read her piece and was honored with the other finalists. The Express Yourself Youth Poetry Competition is sponsored by the Dallas Public Library and the Dallas Foundation. It is a competition that takes place every year.

ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Launches Community Service Programs

ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild launched its Community Service Programs on March 11, 2014.   “ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Reads To Seniors” and “ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids.”

ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Reads To Seniors is a program that allows ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Members to share books, poetry, plays, art, etc with Senior Citizens who gather at Senior Recreation Centers, who live in Nursing Homes or Assisted Living Facilities.  The ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Reads To Seniors is a program that allows ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Members to serve in the community.

ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids is a program that allows ASWIFTT JR. Writer’s Guild Members to share books, poetry, plays, movies, etc with children at schools, recreation centers, daycares, learning centers, libraries, etc.  The ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids is a program that allows ASWIFTT JR. Writer’s Guild Members to serve in the community.

ASWIFTT JR Members Reads To KidsASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids made its debut at Pat’s Learning Academy located 3721 W. Camp Wisdom Rd. Dallas, Texas 75237 on March 11, 2014.  Authors Kamille Padgitt and Brenda Johnson Padgitt made an appearance at the learning academy.  Kamille Padgitt published her first children’s book “The Jersey Devil Is Not REAL!” on October 15, 2013.  The Jersey Devil Is Not Real! is a Realistic Fiction Story about a little girl who draws her own conclusion about the legend of the Jersey Devil.   Author Brenda Johnson Padgitt also read her children’s fiction book “My Baby Sister.”  It is a children’s fiction book about Danielle who learns that being a big sister can be really cool.

ASWIFTT JR. Member, Kamille Padgitt Puts Poetic Spin On “Don’t Worry Be Happy!”

The ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Organization and Founders are proud to announce that Kamille Padgitt made the final cut in the “Express Yourself Youth Poetry Competition sponsored by the Dallas Public Library and the Dallas Foundation. Kamille entered the contest earlier this year in January 2016. The piece she authored is called “Don’t Worry Be Happy!” She is among the 60 finalists who will read their poem on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11 a.m at a ceremony & luncheon at the J. Erik Johsson Central Library, located at 1515 Young Street in Dallas, Texas.

Kamille was also honored on March 22, 2016 at the DallasexpressYourself pic ISD Scholars Recognition Ceremony.  She is listed among other Dallas ISD Scholars for her Exemplary Academic Achievements.  Kamille is a 7th grader who scored in the 95th percentile on her STAAR Reading/Math standardized test last year.  The Dallas ISD Scholars Program recognizes students in the 7th through 11th grade who have demonstrated academic excellence and college readiness potential.  This program supports students in their pursuit toward National Merit Scholarships and it also provides resources and opportunities that promote academic and social success.

ASWIFTT JR. Members READS TO KIDS At Pat’s Learning Academy!

Pat's Learning Academy Pic 6Another successful ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild event on September 2, 2015 at Pat’s Learning Academy. Co-Founder, Brenda Johnson Padgitt and ASWIFTT Jr. member, Kamille Padgitt, made appearances at the academy to read “A Day Like Mine” by Eunice Bridges. Students enjoyed listening to the fiction story about Megan and her special doll. The story begins with Megan waking up in the morning to a new school day. She is excited about the special doll her friend Lisa sent her in the mail. Megan wants to take her doll to school for “Show and Tell.” She prepared for this day carefully but starts off on the wrong foot when she forgets her special doll at home. The story was relevant to the kids of Pat’s Learning Academy. Many of the students had something to share about losing a truck, car, doll or special toy. The story “A Day Like Mine,” shows how a good day can quickly turn into a bad day.  The author of “A Day Like Mine,” Eunice Bridges, is also a moviePat's Learning Academy Pic 2 producer, playwright, and a Co-Founder of ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild. Eunice has also written “A Child’s Laughter,” “Silent Cry,” “The Last Flight,” and “Eunice Bridges Poetry Collection, Vol. I”

The visit to Pat’s Learning Academy is part of ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild community service Program called “ASWIFTT Jr. Members READS TO KIDS.” ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild also has another community service program called “ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild READS TO SENIORS.” Both programs launched on March 11, 2014.
