ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild is now offering mentorship and writing classes at any of the 47 City of Dallas Recreations Centers. You can register for classes today. Classes will begin April 2014. You can request ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild classes at a recreation center in your neighborhood.
ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild will mentor, support & develop students in their chosen craft. ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild plays a key role in helping students to discover & use their God given talents to impact the world.
ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild classes are for the author, artist, playwright, movie producer, director, journalist, etc. who has the talent to put pen or brush to paper to create a unique & valuable piece of work. ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild is always looking for new talents to enhance the Literary, Visual and Performing Arts.
ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Classes include:
The Creative Writer is a class for those who have a passion for writing. The class is also for those who want to learn how to develop creative writing pieces, essays short stories and informal manuscripts they can share. It is a class for those who love poetry and spoken word. You will learn the art of writing creatively like a professional.
ASWIFTT Writing Prep For STAAR TEST is a class to help students who need to improve their writing skills to successfully pass the STAAR Test. This class covers the writing portion of the Texas Mandated STAAR Test for 4th, 7th and High School. This is a 3 (three) day class that will cover skills to help students with the test and essay portions of the STAAR Writing Exam. In this class students will learn valuable writing tips. The class will also help foster student confidence in writing. The ASWIFTT Writing Prep For STAAR Test is Aligned with the TEKS Standards set by TEA.
ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Mentorship Class mentors adults who have the desire to write books, plays, poetry, short stories, create art and more. ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Mentorship Class also mentors those who want to become a published author, artist, playwright, film maker and more. All class registrants must also have a City of Dallas Parks and Recreation Membership Card to take classes at any of the City of Dallas Recreation Centers.

ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild is set to launch its Community Service Programs on March 11, 2014. “ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Reads To Seniors” and “ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids.”
ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Reads To Seniors is a program that allows ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Members to share books, poetry, plays, art, etc with Senior Citizens who gather at Senior Recreation Centers, who live in Nursing Homes or Assisted Living Facilities. The ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Reads To Seniors is a program that allows ASWIFTT Writer’s Guild Members to serve in the community.
ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids is a program that allows ASWIFTT JR. Writer’s Guild Members to share books, poetry, plays, movies, etc with children at schools, recreation centers, daycares, learning centers, libraries, etc. The ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids is a program that allows ASWIFTT JR. Writer’s Guild Members to serve in the community.
ASWIFTT JR. Members Reads To Kids will make its debut at Pat’s Learning Academy located 3721 W. Camp Wisdom Rd. Dallas, Texas 75237 on March 11, 2014. Authors Kamille Padgitt and Brenda Johnson Padgitt will make an appearance at the learning academy. Kamille Padgitt has recently published her first children’s book “The Jersey Devil Is Not REAL!” on October 15, 2013. The Jersey Devil Is Not Real! is a Realistic Fiction Story about a little girl who draws her own conclusion about the legend of the Jersey Devil. Author Brenda Johnson Padgitt will also read her children’s fiction book “My Baby Sister.” It is a children’s fiction book about Danielle who learns that being a big sister can be really cool.

Brenda Johnson Padgitt will make an author appearance on Tuesday March 11, 2014 to read her children’s fiction book “My Baby Sister” at Pat’s Learning Academy located at 3721 W. Camp Wisdom Rd in Dallas, Texas. My Baby Sister is a children’s fiction book about Danielle who learns that being a big sister can be really cool. When she was 5 years old her mother announced that a baby sister or brother was on the way. Danielle’s mother was pregnant with her baby sister.
